Most Fascinating Destinations in Tanzania

Tanzania is the ideal vacation spot for everyone – whether you’re an adventurous person or just love having a chilled, laid-back escape – the country has got the perfect destinations for you.

Here are some of the most fascinating destinations in Tanzania:

  1. Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park is the crown of Tanzania. It’s home to numerous wildlife species including the Big Five, giraffes, hippos, zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs and hyenas. Moreover, you can spot over 500 species of birds here.

The highlight of the Park is the Great Migration, during which millions of zebras and wildebeests migrate from Serengeti to Masai Mara and back. Watching the wildebeests give birth during the birthing season, and witnessing the river crossings as crocodiles hunt the zebras and wildebeests will have you awestruck.

  1. Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is called the “Roof of Africa” because it’s the tallest mountain in the entire continent. It’s a snow-capped mountain that offers stunning views and diverse landscapes. You can also spot monkeys, elephants, buffaloes, leopards and elands on your way to the peak of the mountain.

Trekking up to the top of the mountain usually takes about 5-7 days, depending on your fitness level.

  1. Ngorongoro Crater

Observe authentic African wilderness at the floor of this huge crater. You can spot the Big Five, gazelles, wildebeests and zebras. The crater also offers stunning sceneries which provide the ideal backdrop for all your photographs.

You can go biking along the rim of the crater to take in the beautiful scenery from each angle.

  1. Zanzibar Island

Zanzibar Island is the perfect place to wrap up your Tanzanian trip. It’s home to white sandy beaches, interesting watersports activities, and exceptional historical buildings.

Stone Town, located on the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with beautiful historical buildings, stunning architecture and delicious street food. Visit the Palace Museum, House of Wonders and the Forodhani Gardens Food Market. The town is best explored on a bicycle.

After you’re done exploring Stone Town, head over to one of the stunning beaches at Paje, Jambiani or Nungwi and have fun participating in watersports like scuba diving, snorkeling and kitesurfing. You can also go kayaking or on a dhow boat cruise to appreciate the sunset.

You can also observe the rare Red Colobus Monkeys at the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park.
