7 Incredible and Quiet Beaches in Tanzania

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As one of the best tourist spots in East Africa, Tanzania is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, such as Nungwi, Kendwa, and Paje, to name a few. Some travellers would like to visit alternate locations, which are more quiet and peaceful. Here are seven incredible and quiet beaches in Tanzania.

  • Jimbizi Beach, Kilwa Masoko

Jimbizi beach is away from the usual tourist route, and is hence, quieter and calmer than other locations. This gorgeous beach offers soft sand, and baobab trees, allowing the tourists to immerse themselves in the raw purity of nature. The low tide gives visitors the opportunity to walk amongst sand bars. Nearby, Kilwa Kisiwani island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as it is home to ancient Swahili ruins. Visitors can relax on the beach, or have some adventure by snorkelling to observe  a diverse range of marine life!

  • Mbudya Island Beach -off  Dar Es Salaam peninsula

This beach is ideal for those who wish to escape the crowds, and the hustle and bustle of Dar es Salaam! After a 20 minute boat ride from Dar Es Salam, tourists reach this gorgeous location, with its white sand, and crystalline waters.

  • Fanjove Island Beach – off the southern coast

This private island is located 140km south of Dar es Salaam, and is one of the most remote and secluded beach destinations in the world. It is home to just 6 eco-friendly tented rooms, which allow a maximum of only 12 guests at a time. As tourists do not get luxuries such as TV, or air conditioning, they can enjoy an authentic, intimate experience. The location is rich in diverse flora and fauna, and is perfect for those who love dolphins!

  • Nakupenda Beach – Zanzibar

A 20 minute dhow ride away from Stone Town, this beach is on the tiniest isle in Zanzibar. This beautiful beach is remote, and peaceful, with about 20 visitors everyday. This isolated beach may be small (just a mile long), but it is pristine and breathtakingly beautiful. Tourists can see exotic birds such as cranes, and enjoy amazing activities such as sunbathing, snorkeling, cruising, kite surfing, and picnics, as well as peaceful strolls across the beach.

  • Sinda Island – Dar Es Salaam

Sinda Island is a hidden retreat, 8 kilometers away from Dar es Salaam. With views of crystalline waters and colourful reefs, this secret island is an incredible tourist location. Tourists can observe tropical fish and dolphins, or enjoy snorkelling or swimming all day long.  As this island has been recently discovered, it mostly remains deserted, and hence, offers serenity and privacy. With activities such as sailing, fishing trips, sunset cruise, and kayaking etc. this quiet beach promises an amazing trip!

  • Mbudya Island – Dar Es Salaam

This quiet beach is the best place for a relaxing trip. Tourists can escape the crowds, and the hustle and bustle of the city, by visiting this beautiful beach, just a few miles away from Dar es Salaam. Visitors can enjoy fun activities such as swimming, snorkelling, eating fresh seafood,  observing protected reefs, enjoying picnics, or island cruising!

  • Vumawimbi Beach – Pemba Island

This heavenly beach is an untouched stretch of white sand where tourists can enjoy the sweet smelling air and a cooling swim in the crystalline waters. This breathtaking location is peaceful, private, and serene. As all the hotels are on the west side, this beach is mostly isolated, and not many outsiders visit it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
