Tanzanian Safaris in the Month of October

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The rains return to Tanzania at the end of the month; however, the middle of the month is perfect travel weather, both for safaris and for beach vacations. During the day, the hottest that it gets is about 29 degrees Celsius and the coldest in the day is around 16 degrees Celsius depending on whether you’re in the lowlands or highlands.

Why is the Weather Perfect for Safaris in October?

The days are warmer than in prior months and they are clear. There is rain that happens towards the end of the month, but no earlier. This is also the last month in the dry season and the vegetation has thinned, and animals are gathering at watering holes. This makes it good for sightings. It is always a good idea towards the end of the month to pack your umbrella as well as your rain slicker. There are also very few mosquitos in the area in October. There are very large populations of elephants to be found in the Tarangire and in the Katavi national park. There is a lot of chimpanzee trekking as well in the mountains in Mahale Mountains National Park. Chimps are easy to spot in almost any area. The safari areas themselves are also very dry in this time of year, which lends itself to large concentrations of animals around water supplies. October is also a phenomenal time to visit Arusha and climb Mount Meru, or to take the trek up Mount Kilimanjaro.

What Are a Few Great Options for October?

The Herd Tracker is a fun safari that allows you to be in the middle of the action. You can see the Great Migration in its entire cycle. October offers a chance to see the ‘end’ of a life cycle of the migration (the migration itself never ends, but has within it some special cycles) and to learn about the patterns of the wildlife. Each day has a tailored itinerary that includes cultural programs, village visits, and trips to national parks. There are also safari walking tours on Mount Meru, Lake Duluti Forest Reserve tours, and a city of Arusha tour as well as a Meru Cultural tourism trip.

From Arusha, the next day includes a drive to Tarangire National Park which allows for amazing viewing opportunities of the elephants. There is an amazing lodge there as well that attracts tons of life and there are many options with game drives with professional guides. This is an area that is perfect for seeing lions nestling in the trees, Lesser kudu, Fringe Eared Oryx, Grant’s gazelle, leopards, and many other animals in the plains.

This safari tour will also offer an option of a hot air balloon ride, walking safaris, a Maasai village tour and watching birds in the bush while having dinner with others. There are so many choices for you when you are booking your safari that the question is, what do you really want to do? The options are nearly endless.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
